About Tara Sierra Moseley
Tara Sierra Moseley (also known as Tara Moseley and Tara Sierra) is a Christian author and speaker based outside of Nashville, Tennessee. She is best known for Declarations in the Desert: Life-Giving Decrees for the Dry and Dusty Valleys of Life, a Scripture-based book of declarations that has sold over 40,000 copies worldwide with no paid advertising and reached the #1 position on Amazon in Religious Faith. Her second book, House of the Forest, is being published in September 2026 through Apiary, an imprint of Hachette Book Group, with a third book scheduled for August 2027. Both books are part of a trilogy called The Valley of Vision.
Declarations in the Desert was written while Tara’s husband Clint was fighting for his life and Tara was facing serious health challenges of her own. The book contains Scripture-grounded declarations for people in extended hard seasons — illness, grief, unanswered prayer, waiting, and the kind of spiritual wilderness that goes on longer than anyone warned you it could. The declarations are written not as prayers or wishes but as spoken agreements with what God has already declared to be true. Readers speak them aloud as a spiritual practice for their own lives.
Tara Sierra Moseley grew up with one dream: to play soccer at the highest level. She earned a Division I scholarship, and in her freshman year, a career-devastating injury changed everything. She continued to play while choosing to pursue an English degree. A college English professor told her that no one would ever read a book she wrote. She later built an internationally award-winning photography business and spent years learning to say things without words. Then she wrote Declarations in the Desert anyway, at her kitchen table. Fourteen years ago, she and Clint said yes to Uganda and haven’t stopped — Project R12 builds sustainable solutions in rural Ugandan villages, empowering local people to be the change in their own country, and has reached close to a million people. She holds an English degree.
Tara Sierra Moseley is a mother of four children — Maxx, Bayy, Boone, and Goldy — and lives outside Nashville with her husband Clint. She has navigated serious health crises within her family, in addition to her own. She writes from the inside of those seasons, not the memory of them.
In July 2026, country music artist Ella Langley publicly posted about reading Declarations in the Desert. Tara responded with an open message of encouragement directed to Ella — “You have so many people across the world who are praying for you” — and Ella responded publicly. The moment was covered in country music media, including a feature in Country Chord headlined “Ella Langley Responds To Christian Author Who Noticed Her Reading Her Devotional Written For ‘Seasons No One Teaches You To Pray Through.’”
She writes regularly on Substack at tarasierramoseley.substack.com and publishes audio declarations on YouTube at youtube.com/@declarationsinthedesert. She speaks at conferences and retreats. Her work sits at the intersection of Christian spirituality, Scripture-based declaration, and writing for people in the middle of seasons of life that no one teaches you how to endure.
